Dr. Piumsomboon specializes in the practical application of Systems Engineering, Operations Research, and advanced software design & development. He has applied his expertise extensively in consulting services of more than 50 large-scale information technology projects. He has written more than 60 publications and professional reports.

Through his career as a Vice President of Information Technology with CIM Systems Inc. in Richardson, Texas and later as a Managing Director of CIM Systems (Thailand), Dr. Piumsomboon has provided consulting and system integration services to a wide array of manufacturers and large organizations both in the U.S.A. and Thailand .

Prior to CIM Systems he served as a researcher in a Network group at Bell Northern Research (R&D of NorTel Inc.) in Richardson where he was responsible for the design and development of several telecommunications software tools for clients such as Northern Telecom, EDS, and American Express.

After graduation Dr. Piumsomboon formed Lodestone II Inc., an advanced manufacturing systems consulting firm specialized in Computer Integrated Manufacturing systems design and system simulation analysis. With Lodestone II, Dr. Piumsomboon had provided consulting and software development services for many of the U.S. Fortune 500 companies. He also co-developed a simulation package named GEMS-II (Generalized Manufacturing Simulator).

His list of clients includes the Petroleum Authority of Thailand, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Expressway and Transit Authority, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Read-Rite, Seacon Square, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Bureau of Energy Regulation and Conservation, the Office of the Maritime Promotion Commission, the Department of Energy Development and Promotion, Aerospace Avionics, Boeing Electronics, Burlington Industries, Digital Equipment, Firestone Tire & Rubber, General Dynamics, National Semiconductors, Smith Industries, Texas Instruments, Parker-Hannifin, Reed Tool, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
